Salem, Illinois

I recently took a little trip to Salem with my mom. We went to a few shops, had lunch, and enjoyed our day. Salem is located in Marion County, Illinois, and is about 90 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri. For a small town, Salem has a lot to offer. Adorable shops, restaurants, bakeries, parks, and so much more. We were able to make it to three shops and one restaurant on our little day trip. Keep reading to get a run-down on the shops and restaurant we visited.

Our first stop was to Country Creek Treasures. This shop has just about everything you could be looking for. From home decor to clothes to tea to purses to jewelry to comics to homemade soaps, and a little museum, this shop has it all! Fun fact: the building was built in 1887, and the original elevator is still in the building! This shop has lots of faith-based items as well, and the basement has a small chapel area, and a place to sit down and relax. Country Creek Treasures is a one-of-a-kind shop. Sally was extremly kind and helpful! If you stop by Country Creek Treasures, be sure to say hi to her! Country Creek Treasures is located at 115 East Main Street, Salem, Illinois 62881. Here are a few of the photos I took of Country Creek Treasures:

Our next stop was The Rusty Nail. The Rusty Nail was one of the most beautiful shops I've ever seen. It made me think of something you would see in one of the Magnolia markets. Perfectly decorated for fall and ready to satisfy all of your home decor needs. I can't even imagine how this place must look for the holidays! I am hoping to make it back to Salem in November or early December to pick up some Christmas gifts. Also, be sure to take a look at the fish pond made out of the bed of an old truck. I've never seen anything like it! The Rusty Nail is located at 2039 W. Main St, Salem, IL 62881.

Purple Elephant Antiques & Angel Blessings Boutique & Curiosities

This place is something you would see on the show American Pickers. If you're looking for a great shop filled from top to bottom with antiques, this is your place! They are still moving items from their old location, but they've got plenty to see at the moment.

Purple Elephant Antiques & Angel Blessings Boutique is located at 2524 S. Broadway, Salem, IL 62881. Here are some photos I took of Purple Elephant Antiques & Angel Blessings Boutique:

We had lunch at Iron Saddle Ranch. The food was good. The service was great. Iron Saddle Ranch is located at 3734 Cross Rd, Salem, IL 62881.

Last but not least, here are a few photos I took of the city while walking around:

Salem is a beautiful place with a lot to offer. I can’t wait to go back around the holidays to see how the shops and city are decorated! If you took the time to read this and look at my photos, thank you! I plan on doing more blogs on local small towns. If there is a town that I need to visit, please tell me about it below!
