Pere Marquette Lodge

This blog is dedicated to my dad. He would have been 78 today. He instilled the love of nature and photography in me. He passed away almost two years ago, and his loss is felt every day, and I wish that he could be here to see me finally pursuing my dreams.

Pere Marquette Lodge was built during the Great Depression. Inside the beautiful lodge, you will find a 700-ton stone fireplace, an indoor pool, a life-sized chess set, a restaurant, a winery, and a private banquet room. There are 50 Lodge rooms, and 22 rustic cabin rooms. The Lodge also hosts many public events throughout the year. The Lodge has something for everyone! For the outdoor lovers, there is a bike trail, several hiking trails, a scenic drive, and a tennis court. The scenic drive is beautiful any time of the year, but I highly recommend going during the fall.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is known for its friend chicken. While we were there, I got the Hickory Trail South, a grilled cheese made with Gruyere cheese and tomato and served with sweet potato fries, and my husband got the Marquette burger which came with regular fries. Both were delicious!

The Lodge also has a gift shop, where you can find locally made souvenirs, jewelry, snacks, and other goodies.

Be sure to stop by the visitor’s center, where you can learn about the local wildlife.

My husband and I had a great time at the lodge. Everyone we met was extremely kind and helpful. If you want to find out about the upcoming events or book a stay at the lodge, here is a link to the official website: https://pmlodge.net/

The Lodge is located at 13653 Lodge Boulevard, Grafton, IL 62037 and the phone number is 618-786-2331

Here are some of the photos I took while at the Lodge and visitor’s center. The photos don't do it justice. It is a beautiful place you need to experience for yourselves!

The entrance to the winery. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were at the Lodge.

Be sure to check out the bulletin board for information on upcoming events!

I got a little excited and took two bites of my sandwich before I remembered I was going to take pictures of the food. LOL!

Another gorgeous view from the scenic drive.

You can’t beat these views!
