Spoiler alert: the trails are still covered in snow

I like to save you guys some trouble, so here is another spoiler alert/ public service announcement/funny story of my life. Also, I realize that I didn’t get to post this yesterday, so the snow is gone. It’s still funny. And if I change the title of my blog, the URL will not change and it makes things difficult.

Saturday started out kind of hectic. Typical day in the life of me. We were dropping off groceries at my parent’s house and I heard water running when I got out of the car. I looked at the side of their house and their water pipe that runs to their hose outside had busted. Water was spewing out fast. We ended up having to shut the water off to the whole house and tried to get the spout off, which is where it was actually busted. I told him to stay inside and we would try and fix it but he doesn’t like to listen. He ended up doing too much and I thought he was going to have a heart attack. If you’ve ever seen anyone panic and grab their chest and not be able to breathe, that’s pretty much what happened. I was able to get him calmed down and warm and he was okay, but it was another scary moment that I will never forget. I’ve basically been traumatized more times that I can count during the last ten years of my life. We had to call my brother and he was able to pry the spout off and put a new one on.

I had this bright idea that Saturday would be the perfect day for a trail walk. I also thought the trails would be clear because the temperature has been warmer, some snow has melted, and people have been out on trails. It made sense to me. My boyfriend and I drove about 2 hours to Herrn Pond and guess what? The road to get there was icy, the trails were covered in snow, and it was a mess. Of course, we don't have snow boots. I had my Vans on and he had some T.U.K. shoes that also were not made for snow. I got him to agree to go out on the trail for a while. It was hard to walk on and I ended up sinking my right foot in the creek while I was trying to cross it. I made it to the floating boardwalk and got a few photos. The snow looked beautiful. Having wet feet the rest of the day wasn't as fun. It was nice to get outdoors, take some photos, and breathe fresh air. Moving my body and feeling the sun shining down on me was incredible.

I can’t wait to go back to this area when the snow is gone and it is a little warmer. The Cypress trees are gorgeous. The floating boardwalk offers an endless view of the trees and swamp. I got a few photos, but not as many as I would have liked. My shoes and feet were soaked and it is a lot harder to walk in inches of snow than I remember.

Sunday was a relaxing day. I made baked spaghetti and garlic bread and my boyfriend and I watched horror movies. I didn’t even start editing my photos until later Sunday night. I needed a few hours to do nothing. That was my self-care Sunday.
