Simple ways journaling can change your life

Self-care Sunday has arrived. I wanted to talk about journaling today. My best friend sent me the Let That Shit Go journal and I loved it so much that I bought a few more guided journals! Journaling is an easy way to open your mind and work through obstacles that have been holding you back. It is also a way to be thankful for the important people and things in your life. It’s a good way to check-in with yourself. Have you been feeling stressed lately? Are you upset with how someone has been treating you? Are there people in your life that you don’t know how to deal with? Is there a decision that has been weighing heavily on your mind? I suggest picking up a guided journal and start writing. A few minutes each day has done wonders for me. I think a big part of self-care is allowing yourself to feel all of your emotions. Holding them in only makes your life worse. Feel what you need to feel and then move on. Journaling is a great way to accomplish this.

The Let That Shit Go journal makes me laugh. It has thoughtful prompts mixed with snarky sayings and beautiful images. It says that it is a journal for leaving your bullshit behind and creating a happy life. I couldn’t agree more! This is a journal I pick up when I start to feel like certain events from my past are keeping me from moving forward and I need something to put a smile on my face.

The True You journal is a self-discovery journal. It has thoughtful prompts that help you reflect on your life and inspire you to grow as a person. It has sections on self-awareness, values, identity, confidence, mind, emotions, spirituality, health, family, relationships, community, career and finances, passions, goals and dreams, and life purpose. This is the journal I pick up when I need to have a little check-in with myself about one of the previously mentioned topics.

The Present, Not Perfect journal calls itself a journal for slowing down, letting go, and loving who you are. This one definitely gets me to slow down. The prompts are extremely thought provoking and take a little more time to work through, at least that is what I have experienced. This is a good thing for me.

Journaling has helped me manage the negative thoughts that I play through my head. The irrational thoughts that creep into my mind when I’m having a bad day. The things that make me think I’m not good enough. The power that I give to people who don’t matter. It helps me see the things that I can change to make my life easier. It also helps me realize that the problems I am dealing with aren’t near as big as they seem. Journaling has also helped me live in the present. I am learning to let go of things in my past that have hurt me and to not worry too much about the future. Another big one for me is letting go of things that I cannot control.
